Mickey Burke

Position: Coach

Mickey graduated from San Diego State University with a Master of Science in Kinesiology: Applied Movement Science in 2018. Mickey’s area of study has focused on the gait and balance of individuals with Parkinson’s disease and how exercise can benefit those issues. Additionally, Mickey’s thesis work explored the kinematics of speech in individuals with Parkinson’s disease and Deep Brain Stimulation.

Mathes “Mickey” Burke graduated from UC San Diego with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a specialization in Neuroscience and Behavior. Mickey brings with him clinical and cognitive experience from his time spent with the UCSD Movement Disorder Center, specifically acting as clinical coordinator for movement disorder neurologists and as a research coordinator specializing in the cognition of individuals with Parkinson’s disease.

Mickey incorporates cutting-edge research into his training environments providing a personalized, multi-sensory exercise experience. Mickey holds certifications in Parkinson’s Wellness Recovery (PWR!), Rock Steady Boxing, and Brain Grant Foundation Exercise for Parkinson’s Training. Components of LSVT BIG and LOUD and cognitive rehabilitation create an enriching and challenging setting.

Mickey enjoys spending time in the great outdoors and takes full advantage of living in San Diego. Spending time with family and his girlfriend, Mickey loves hiking, camping, sailing the seven seas, and taking his dog along with him on his adventures.
